IDecide Project Videos

Are you a teen driver or parent of a teen driver?

Are you taking an online safe driving or defensive driving course?

Below you can download two informative videos on organ donation. The first is a 20-minute video designed to educate teenagers about the choice to become a designated organ donor on their driver's license, and the second is a short 6-minute video we developed for parents of teen drivers.

About the IDecide Project:

The IDecide Project is a research study funded by the National Institutes of Health. We followed teenagers over a year and found that more teenagers who watched the teen video became a designated donor on their first driver's license application compared to teenagers who didn't watch the video. Students who watched the video found it to be engaging, funny, and they learned things they didn't know about a topic that can be "hard to think about".

We partnered with the National Traffic Safety Institute (NTSI) to promote awareness among teens and their families about the choice to become a designated organ donor on their driver's license. Go to: www.ntsi.com today!

It's Just A Little BOX - Become an organ DONOR?

See a story of a teenage girl and how she decides whether or not to be a designated organ donor on her first driver's license. How will YOU decide? This video educates teenagers about the choice to become a designated organ donor on their first driver's license. The video de-bunks urban myths and presents surprising facts about organ donation via a game-show format and a reality-show story about a teen who is struggling with her answer to the question "do you want to be an organ donor?" which she sees on the driver's license application.

Special message to PARENTS about Organ DONATION

Shows a parent's perspective on how to talk to a teenager about their choice to become an organ donor on their first driver's license. How will YOU talk to your teen? This video informs parents about the choice their teen will have to make in order to decide if he or she will "check the box" to be a designated organ donation on their driver's license application. It encourages parents to talk with their teens about this important decision before they go to the DMV to fill out the application.

Are organ DONORS at a disadvantage when in an ACCIDENT?

Do you believe you won't receive the necessary emergency care after an accident if your license says you are an organ donor? In this video teens discuss the urban myth that people who are designated organ donors on their driver's license won't receive life-saving medical care to the same extent that non-donors would receive. It is a myth that if emergency doctors or ambulance drivers see that you are a donor on your driver's license, they will not save your life-in order to use your organs.

Can organ donors have normal FUNERALS?

Some people believe that a normal (open casket) funeral isn't possible for organ donors. What do you think? There is a common misconception that it is not possible for an organ donor to have a normal funeral. In this video teens learn the truth about whether or not an organ donor can have a normal funeral service after donating an organ following his/her death.

Can DOZENS be helped by just one organ DONOR?

How many people can benefit from just one organ donor? What organs can be donated after death? In this video two teens are surprised to learn about the number of people who can be helped by just one organ donor. They discuss which organs can be donated after death, it's not just hearts, livers, and kidneys that we hear about in the news media. Watch this video and learn more.

Is organ donation AGAINST my RELIGION?

Often teenagers don't become a designated organ donor on their first driver's license because they think it is prohibited by their religion. Does YOUR religion support organ donation? Many people believe that organ donation is against their religion, and spiritual beliefs may play a big part in someone's decision to become a designated organ donor. Often teenagers don't become designated organ donors on their first driver's license because they think it is against their religion. In this video teens learn that organ donation following death is allowed by almost all religions.
